MAYOR: City too sophisticated for Meter Maids

Seems like the Meter Maids could eventually become extinct on the Gold Coast.

Mayor Tom Tate claimed the city has outgrown the iconic ladies in gold-bikinis at the Going For Gold symposium on Tuesday.

While we'll still see them around Surfers Paradise, the Mayor ruled out Meter Maids touring the country to attract more tourists to the Glitter Strip, which they used to do a few decades ago.

Cr Tate believes the Gold Coast is more sophisticated than that now.
