METER MEN: Hunks in gold budgie smugglers

We could soon see men in gold budgie smugglers topping up our parking meters in Surfers Paradise.

The owner of the iconic Meter Maids has hit back at claims from Mayor Tom Tate that the idea may be passed its use-by date.

Roberta Aitchison has told News Corp she's toying with the idea of getting hunky bodybuilders to join the ladies out on the streets, in a bid to reach out to the women as well.

The so-called 'Meter Men' would walk around separate from the Meter Maids, to avoid confusion that they might be a couple.
