Newcastle Supercars On The Right Track: Drivers

The Newcastle 500 Supercars track is a winner, according to two of the star drivers who'll zoom around the CBD in November.

James Courtney and Scott McLaughlin were in town on Tuesday to view the final layout of the street circuit, which will see the cars speed through the historic East End and along the foreshore.

The pair were joined by Supercars CEO James Warburton and circuit engineers, who all took a tour of the track ahead of preparation work starting in April.

Courtney, who is a former Supercars champion, says the Newcastle round will definitely wrap up the series with a bang.

"We really need a big impact last event and I think this is definitely it," he said.

"The track looks spectacular with the amount of undulation. Running back up through the middle part of town and then back down to the parkland, it's going to be fantastic."

The Newcastle 500 will run from November 24 to 26.
