Remember when people started dressing up as clowns and congregating in random Sydney suburbs, taunting people about what areas they'd next hit through ridiculous Facebook groups?

We don't blame you if you've forgotten. It's been a big two years.

But apparently we've travelled back to October 2016, with the "Clown Purge Sydney" Facebook group cranked back up and threatening to resuscitate  the "killer clown" craze.

There have been a handful of posts since April this year but, with Halloween around the corner, the clowns seem keen to get their show on the road again.

This whole clown thing kicked off in America, in what was expected to be a reaction to the announcement that Stephen King's IT was getting a remake.

It quickly spread to Australia, though, and police across the country were soon dealing with multiple reports of people dressed as clowns wandering around neighbourhoods to terrorise the locals.
