An 18-year-old boy has been rescued by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter after being swept into a cave at Snapper Point in southern Lake Macquarie.

The teen was with a group of friends who were jumping off the rocks near the Frazer Park blowhole, when he got into difficulty.

He was rescued by a helicopter paramedic, winched back into the chopper and then dropped off, uninjured in the nearby carpark.

Snapper Point is known to be dangerous, with at least 14 rock fishing deaths in the past five years.
